Since 1966: A Love Story That Only Gets Deeper

Some love stories don’t fade with time, they deepen.

Rick and Linda’s love story is the kind that quietly stays with you. They first met in college in the fall of 1966, and what started as a simple connection soon became something lasting. Over the decades, they’ve built a life full of care, laughter, and devotion—not just to each other, but to their son Ryan and everyone around them.

The Beginning of Their Love

Q: What year was it when you first met, and where?
Fall of 1966, in college.

What started in a classroom slowly grew into something meaningful, the kind of connection that stays even as life begins to change.

The Moment They Knew It Was Forever

Q: When did you realize this person wasn’t just a date, but someone you could truly build a life with?
Spring of 1967. Rick had aced all his classes and was preparing to transfer to another college. We walked to a local jewelry store and picked out an engagement ring. We knew we wanted to be together, even though we waited to get married until he graduated.

It wasn’t rushed. It was intentional. It was love.

Advice from a Lifelong Partnership

Q: After all these years, what is the simplest, most consistent piece of relationship advice you would offer today?

  • Rick: “Remain faithful, loving, and trustworthy.”

  • Linda: “Become best friends, laughter, love, and respect for each other.”

Their advice feels simple, yet it carries the kind of truth that only time can teach.

The Everyday Love

Love isn’t just about milestones; it’s in the little things, the routines, and the laughter.

Q: Who is the funniest?
Ryan says it’s a tie. We have different senses of humor, so we make each other laugh.

Q: Who is the boss?
Linda.

Q: Who is the better cook?
Linda for most things, except Rick does meat and hashbrowns the best.

Q: Who is the worrywart?
Rick, without a doubt.

Q: Who is the tidiest?
Linda, hands down.

Q: Who is the early bird?
Rick in the morning, but when it’s time to go somewhere, it’s Linda.

Q: Who is the social butterfly?
Linda.

Q: Who is the nostalgic one?
We both are. That’s why we have so many family mementos at our house.

Their answers paint a picture of a life built on care, humor, and deep understanding—a love that is lived every day, not just celebrated on special occasions.

A Love That Inspires

Rick and Linda’s story isn’t just about how long they’ve been together. It’s about how they’ve chosen each other through every season, how they laugh, care, and create memories together.
